Join a global professional services leader.

GHD is committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy, and urbanisation.

Our Contamination Assessment and Remediation business group in Newcastle is looking for a graduate Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects in the region, and be connected with other Australian and international teams who do similar work.

The work includes a large fieldwork component, where you will be doing soil and water sampling, assessment of results, writing reports and providing recommendations. You will have experienced staff to guide and mentor you, until you are able to work independently on your own projects.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • will graduate by December 2022 with a degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • has an interest in chemistry, soil, groundwater, contamination assessment, and remediation methods.
  • enjoys fieldwork.
  • has good verbal and written communication skills.
  • is able to travel for work.
  • has a full driver’s licence, and is comfortable with long distance and off-road driving (training will be provided).

Any prior relevant experience will be highly regarded, but we are also willing to train someone who is interested in a long-term career in contamination assessment and remediation.

This is a role for GHD’s 2023 Graduate Program which starts in February 2023. The two-year Graduate Program provides structured training to develop your corporate skills. It will also link you to a wider graduate cohort located within Australia and internationally. The successful candidate may also have the option to work casually prior to graduating.
