Join a global professional services leader.

We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanisation.

If you want to start a career with impact, solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways. We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Because a career is more than just the job, you'll connect with our broader Young Professionals and Women in GHD networks, to learn from their experiences and help develop broader social networks across the company. There’s also the ability to participate in our GHD in the Community program where we partner with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteer and fundraise for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.

About the team:

The Business Case & Economics team works at right at the start of the project lifecycle, partnering with clients to successfully secure funding for infrastructure & project investments. The work within the team not only deals with Economic analytics but also weaves in social impact and non-financial criteria to help craft compelling business cases to gain project investment.

Joining our Graduate Program in 2023, we’re currently seeking students with a background in Economics, Commerce, or Journalism, especially those of you with a passion for economic analysis and storytelling.

Working with a blend of remote and office-based work, this position will be based out of our Brisbane office, where you’ll find yourself connected in with a strong cohort of graduates and other early career professionals – you’re sure to find your tribe once you start.

What would you in the Business Case & Economics team?

Develop investment strategies and tailored solutions that respond to some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as climate change, the new energy transition, and meeting future transport and water needs.

Help clients to articulate their needs, maximise project benefits and effectively manage risk

Research current and future trends and critically assess how these influence investment decisions

Grow your career in management consulting, honing your skills in financial and economic appraisal, scoping and planning, feasibility assessments and business cases, and negotiating and communicating with influence.

Whilst some of the work we do is confidential, here’s a taste of what the team have been delivering recently:

Working with the Victorian government to explore the feasibility of expanding off-shore wind to deliver clean, green energy and support decarbonisation efforts

Working with AITSIS to secure funding to progress the National Resting Place, Ngurra, a critical step forward on Australia’s reconciliation journey

Working with ACT government to secure funding for major health infrastructure in order to deliver better health outcomes

Working with governments nationally to test investments in infrastructure for delivering a net zero future

We’re looking for someone who has:

A degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Planning, Journalism or Marketing possibly with a secondary degree to complement your skills

A natural curiosity and a passion for continuous, self-driven learning and solving complex problems

Strong communication skills and a commitment to client service excellence

What we offer:

Outside of the technical development you’ll gain working within the Business Case & Economics team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program. Our learning will provide you with an integrated two-year, holistic experience as we start to develop our future leaders and technical experts. Every GHD Graduate across the globe is included in the program, so no matter where your career may take you, you’ll all start with the same learning experience.

During the two-year program, you will learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and important leadership skills. We offer personal mentoring and a variety of development activities, including opportunities to work in our regional offices.
