Join a global professional services leader.

We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanisation.

If you want to start a career with impact, solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways.  We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Because a career is more than just the job, you'll connect with our broader Young Professionals and Women in GHD networks, to learn from their experiences and help develop broader social networks across the company.  There’s also the ability to participate in our GHD in the Community program where we partner with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteer and fundraise for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.

About the team:

Our Transport business across the Northern Territory have been in the region for over 65+ years, designing & delivering critical infrastructure across Northern Australia which supports local & regional development, as well as collaborating with colleagues on projects interstate and overseas.  Specifically, we deliver design, project management & construction services for major highways, arterial roads right through to local intersections.   Our clients include the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Department of Defence, as well as numerous local government councils.

Joining our Graduate Program in 2023, we’re currently seeking final year, or recently graduated Civil Engineering graduates, especially those of you with a passion for a career which incorporates being hands on with design & modelling packages, through to site-based experiences.  We want to support your technical development and grow your confidence as you begin to take on more responsibility in your career.

Working with a blend of remote and office-based work, this position will be based out of our Darwin or Alice Springs offices, where you’ll find yourself connected in with a strong cohort of graduates and other early career professionals – you’re sure to find your tribe once you start.

If you need to relocate to start your graduate position, included in your offer will be a $5,000 relocation bonus which will be paid to you in your first fortnightly pay.

Here are some of the recent & upcoming projects the team are involved with:

  • Tanami Road Detailed Design (Packages 1, 2 & 3)
  • Central Arnhem Road – Concept Design
  • Middle-Arm sustainable development precinct
  • Bruce Highway upgrades all along the east coast of Queensland locally including:
  • Numerous sections of road safety upgrades between Gin Gin and Rockhampton
  • Mackay Northern Access – Davey Street to Bald Hill - Glenella
  • Jumper Creek Flood Immunity Upgrade - North of Mackay at Calen
  • Seven overtaking lanes between Bowen and Ayr

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, and be able to start your full-time graduate role in February 2023
  • A passion to develop better Transportation infrastructure to improve and enhance our local communities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working rights within Australia, whether a Citizen, Permanent or Temporary Resident

What we offer:

Outside of the technical development you’ll gain working within the Transport team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program.  Our learning will provide you with an integrated two-year, holistic experience as we start to develop our future leaders and technical experts. Every GHD Graduate across the globe is included in the program, so no matter where your career may take you, you’ll all start with the same learning experience.

During the two-year program, you will learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and important leadership skills. We offer personal mentoring and a variety of development activities, including opportunities to work in our regional offices.
