Join a global professional services leader.

We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanisation.

If you want to start a career with impact, solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways.  We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Because a career is more than just the job, you'll connect with our broader Young Professionals and Women in GHD networks, to learn from their experiences and help develop broader social networks across the company.  There’s also the ability to participate in our GHD in the Community program where we partner with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteer and fundraise for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.

About the team:

Our Environments business across the Northern Territory have been in the region for over 65+ years, collaborating on projects not only across the NT but also into North Queensland. The team are passionate about developing our graduates across a range of experiences, including field work & report writing, client engagement and relationship development as well as contributing to broader multidisciplinary projects occurring across the region.

Joining our Graduate Program in 2023, we’re currently seeking final year, or recently graduated Environmental Scientists graduates, especially those of you with a passion for a career which explores many different fields Environmental Science can cover.  We want to support your technical development and grow your confidence as you begin to take on more responsibility in your career.

Working with a blend of remote and office-based work, this position will be based out of our Darwin office, where you’ll find yourself connected in with a strong cohort of graduates and other early career professionals – you’re sure to find your tribe once you start.

If you need to relocate to start your graduate position, included in your offer will be a $5,000 relocation bonus which will be paid to you in your first fortnightly pay.

Here are some examples of the type of work you could get involved in:

  • Undertaking flora and fauna surveys in a range of habitats spanning Kakadu, desert ecosystems, to the Great Barrier Reef
  • Traveling to across the Territory and Northern Queensland for various monitoring projects including groundwater, noise, air, and water quality
  • Participating in assessment of contaminated land, and contributing to remediation and closure efforts
  • Supporting social impact assessment and engaging with local communities

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, and be able to start your full-time graduate role in February 2023
  • A passion to improve and enhance our local communities, contributing across a wide variety of projects
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working rights within Australia, whether a Citizen, Permanent or Temporary Resident

What we offer:

Outside of the technical development you’ll gain working within the Environment team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program.  Our learning will provide you with an integrated two-year, holistic experience as we start to develop our future leaders and technical experts. Every GHD Graduate across the globe is included in the program, so no matter where your career may take you, you’ll all start with the same learning experience.

During the two-year program, you will learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and important leadership skills. We offer personal mentoring and a variety of development activities, including opportunities to work in our regional offices.
