Join a global professional services leader. We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, resources, energy and urbanisation.

If you want to start a career with impact, solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways. We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Because a career is more than just the job, you'll connect with our broader Young Professionals and inclusive and diverse GHD networks, to learn from their experiences and help develop broader social networks across the company. There’s also the ability to participate in our GHD in the Community program where we partner with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteer and fundraise for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.

Who are we looking for?

Our West Australian Business is currently looking for a hard-working and passionate Vacation and Graduate Engineers to join our multi discipline Resource Engineering (Mining and Energy) group during 2023 and 2024. The team you will join operates predominantly across the Mining and Energy sectors including the following:

  • Process and non-process infrastructure for Tier 1 miners of iron ore, gold, lithium and bauxite
  • Future Energy and Renewables projects including wind, solar, hydrogen and power distribution

In addition to the above core areas, our Graduates are exposed to projects of other GHD groups through project collaborations including Ports and Marine, Defense, Water and Transportation.

We work on all manner of projects, small, medium large. From designing artificial bat habitats, conveyors or a full solar farm, to relocating entire mine sites – our group does it all.

We are seeking the following Engineering disciplines:

  • Civil and Structural
  • Mechanical and Materials Handling
  • Plant and Process
  • Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls
  • Corrosion and Materials Durability

What is the role?

Each Graduate Engineer is different. We strive to align responsibilities and the role with the engineer’s abilities and desires. For us, no two projects are the same. Over a diverse range of small and large projects, your role will include:

  • Working with industry leading technical authorities
  • Undertaking engineering designs
  • Collaborating in multidisciplinary teams
  • Writing proposals and reports
  • Directly contacting clients
  • Visiting sites for inspections
  • Scoping of projects
  • Project Engineering and Project Management activities

To be successful in these roles you will have the following academic and personal attributes:

  • Engineering degree accredited by Engineers Australia.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • A strong desire to learn and solve problems in a team context.
  • Ability to embrace our shared commitment to safety in all aspects of our work.
  • The ability to multi-task and self-prioritize workload.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing to travel to clients’ sites from time to time.

What can we offer you?

Outside of the technical development you will gain from working with a successful and experienced team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program. The Graduate Program is a globally aligned learning framework where you’ll interact with graduates across Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. It has been designed for future portability, so that no matter where your graduate position in GHD takes you, the learning experience will be impactful and consistent.

During the two-year program, you’ll learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You’ll develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills. We offer personal mentoring and a variety of development activities.

What happens after you apply?

Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by one of our Talent Acquisition (TA) team members in Western Australia. If your application is shortlisted, we will get in touch with you for a video interview, where you’ll get the chance to meet our TA team and hiring managers.
