You will work with a deeply and widely experienced group of people for whom striving for mastery, together, is simply part of who we are. Read the published principles by which we (our Partners, our Lawyers, our Technology team – all of us) work and live out our goals. Yes, we are serious about all of it. If that’s you, come join us.

Who we are

We are King & Wood Mallesons. The top-tier international law firm, from Asia, for the world.

KWM is a firm born in Asia, underpinned by world-class capability, with over 2000 lawyers in 30 global locations. We draw from our Western and Eastern perspectives to deliver incisive counsel.

The firm was born out of a big idea – that the world needs a firm like us. A firm that bridges East and West and creates a new standard of world-class legal services. A firm that attracts clients and talent with borderless ambitions. To become the leading top-tier international law firm from Asia, for the world. Our clients need a top-tier firm in the region that can match deep local understanding with a world-class platform. That's us. That's KWM. We are driven by a simple purpose – to use our mastery of the law for the lasting prosperity of our clients, people and communities. It’s why we exist. It’s why we are KWM. It’s who we choose to be.

About the Technology Graduate Program

The Sydney-based program aims to provide you with an exceptional experience, and the tools for a successful career in Technology. Building on our successful long-standing Legal Graduate Program, the Technology Graduate Program promotes and supports an integrated approach to learning and development.  Graduates build capability through a range of formal and informal learning experiences, ranging from day-to-day work activities to traditional face-to-face learning programs. Two mentors are assigned to support you throughout – one from our Technology Leadership Team, and one from the Team to which you are assigned on rotation.

We are Tech. We keep the firm safe, we keep it humming, we have just refreshed our laptop and smartphone fleet, and we’re evolving our Tech stack to drive collaboration and business success, strategically and tactically. We are a team of 90 people, located in most capitals across Australia. You can join and be part of IT teams including Development, Infrastructure, InfoSec, End User Computing, Applications and Operations. You will be rotating through a number of these groups (as agreed with you) to provide you with hands-on experience and a strong understanding of the role they play in the success of the firm.

A successful career in Technology is a combination of technical skill and understanding, discipline, future focus, and the capacity to learn, adapt, lead, influence and teach people (in Technology and the wider firm). In KWM Tech, you will build on all of these, within a working model of success, within a highly successful growing business that has been delivering for its clients, people and communities for 190 years. Performance at this level resumes gold, regardless of where your career takes you. At the successful completion of the 12 months program, expect our various Teams to be competing to have you formally join them as a full-time permanent member of their Team, and help you advance your career.

During the program you can expect to be involved with:

  • Joining specialist teams on rotation, in their work, participating in Technology operational activities.
  • Joining project teams, and experiencing the project lifecycle from research, design and planning, to build, test, deploy, support and evaluation.
  • Learning from, and working, striving, engaging and laughing with, experienced professionals at all levels in Technology.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of the Technology department’s moving parts, its integration with the firm, and its contribution to the success of the firm.
  • Assisting in keeping our familiarity with emerging technologies at the leading edge and integrating possibilities into plans and action.
  • Building relationships across the firm (beyond Technology itself), developing ways to drive firm performance.
  • Joining internal training sessions, team meetings and other firm information seminars and activities.

What qualifications and skills are we looking for?

  • Information Technology-related degree, completed between January 2021 and January 2023.
  • A deep curiosity, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An enthusiasm for getting involved, rolling up your sleeves and immersing yourself in the learning, experience and opportunity on offer. You’ll be calm under pressure, able to prioritise and have strong client service and performance improvement attitude.
  • You will already be a power user of Microsoft Office.
