Restructuring at McGrathNicol

Commerce & Economic at University of New South Wales (UNSW)

Working on a large importer’s trade-on gave me direct exposure to high-level decision-making and problem-solving.

8.30 AM

I’ll grab a coffee with some of the team then get into my work. This generally involves reading and responding to emails and actioning any immediate tasks. This is also a good time for me to meet with my team and discuss ongoing projects. Recently I was working on the trade on of a large importer, so we would often be in calls with management to determine requirements and ensure the company continued to run smoothly.

1.00 PM

I take a break for lunch around 1.00pm. I mix this up between going out for lunch or bringing in leftovers from home. This is a good way to break up your day and catch up with colleagues.

2.00 PM

I progress any major outstanding tasks and continue work on big projects, often there will be team trainings or seminars in the afternoon which are great opportunities to learn about the other projects going on within the team. The afternoon is also a great time to get in any meetings to discuss things that need to be progressed, I find senior staff tend to have some time in the afternoon and can assist with any questions I might have.

5.30 PM

I try and wrap up any emails or urgent tasks for the day and am on the bus home by 5:30.
